Moodus Woman Walks for Water
Stephanie Shoopak is raising awareness and money for clean drinking water around the world.
This past year, Stephanie Shoopak says she was truly touched by the work charity:water was doing around the world.
According to Shoopak, she personally believes that everyone has the right to accessible, clean drinking water. To that end, Shoopak has decided that she would walk for water on the treadmill at the gym every day, or outdoors when the weather was agreeable, in order to raise money for those who don’t have clean, safe drinking water.
Shoopak says she "might not be the fastest, nor the strongest runner, but I can walk."
By either donating a set amount, or pledging money for every mile Shoopak walks, you can be an active participant in bringing water to a village that desperately needs it. Her goal? To raise $5,000 needed to build a well in a needy community. To make a donation to help Shoopak meet her goals, follow this link.
Shoopak is keeping a blog as proof to ensure that "I stick to my goal, and remain focused on what’s important: clean water." Her blog can be viewed here.
Shoopak lives in Moodus with her husband and rescue cats. She enjoys knitting and crocheting, and sells her creations on etsy. Read more about Shoopak on her personal blog.
