Your participation as a volunteer in the community will greatly strengthen our ability to quickly and effectively respond to a wide scale disaster. As was demonstrated with tropical storm Irene and winter storm Alfred, volunteers are a critical component to emergency response and recovery efforts during and after large-scale events.

Join the Medical Reserve Corps- MRC is a volunteer entity which consists primarily of medically trained personnel, but also needs non-medical volunteers to assist with supportive roles such as data entry, registration at clinics and child care. 

An important advantage of choosing to volunteer is the liability protection afforded to those volunteers during an emergency response. The Connecticut General Statutes provides specific liability protection for “Civil Preparedness Forces” under Title 28 of the Public Health Emergency Response Act. This act ensures that if you are injured during an emergency response your medical care will be covered. It also ensures that should something occur during your response that causes a legal issue, you will be protected from legal action.
